Exterior Painting
Siding, trim, doors and the details in between, painted with coatings chosen for Ottawa's hard winters. Every exterior job includes a colour consultation, and the quote lists every item.
Exterior Painting in Ottawa
The outside of a house takes more abuse than anything inside it. Sun fades the south wall, snow sits against the lower siding, and ice works its way into any gap it can find. Once paint starts to peel or chalk, the surface underneath is exposed. A proper exterior repaint protects the house and changes how it looks from the street, which matters whether you're settling in or getting ready to sell.
We start with colour. During the consultation we look at the roof, any brick or stone, the neighbouring houses and the way light hits your street, then help you settle on a scheme you'll like every time you pull into the driveway. Your quote covers every item we'll paint, with no hidden charges. If the deck or fence is looking tired as well, our deck and fence service can be quoted at the same time.

Siding, trim, fascia, soffits, doors and garage doors painted with products that resist peeling and chalking. Includes a colour consultation and an itemized quote with no hidden charges.
When most of the exterior is due, we treat it as one project so colours and sheens match from the foundation line to the roofline. It's also the natural moment to rethink the colour scheme entirely.
Paintable siding is cleaned, scraped where the old paint has lifted, spot-primed and painted. We check for soft or damaged boards during prep and point them out to you before any paint goes on.
These edges frame the house and take a beating from ice and meltwater near the roof. We scrape and sand loose paint, seal open gaps and repaint so the lines look crisp from the sidewalk.
A front door in a strong colour can carry the whole facade. We paint entry doors, side doors and garage doors with a finish suited to the material and to the knocks and slush they get each winter.
Painted brick can look sharp, but not every brick wall should be painted. We check its condition and how it handles moisture first, and if paint isn't the right call for your house, we'll say so.
Most exterior paint failures start with poor prep. We wash off dirt and chalky residue, scrape and sand peeling areas, fill cracks and prime bare spots so the new coating has something solid to grip.
We use professional-grade exterior products picked to resist peeling, cracking and chalking through winters that can drop to -30°C, and we only apply them within the temperature range each product requires.
Our process
Preparation, painting and finishing, in the order that makes the result last.
Spring and summer dates fill up fast, so it helps to reach out before the season starts. Send the request form with a few photos of the house, and we'll call to set up a Project Discovery Call.
We walk around the house with you, talk through colours and products, and list every surface in a written quote. The payment stages are spelled out too, so you know what's due and when before any work begins.
Plants, walkways and windows are covered first. Then the real work starts: washing, scraping, sanding, filling and priming until every surface is sound enough to hold paint through an Ottawa winter.
We apply each coat within the temperature window the product calls for and keep a close eye on the forecast. When the painting is done, we clean up and walk around the house with you to check the finish.
Ottawa considerations
Few cities put exterior paint through as much as Ottawa does. Summer brings heat and humidity, winter can drop to -30°C, and there are plenty of freeze-thaw swings in between. Paint that can't handle those changes cracks, and moisture gets in behind it. Product choice and application temperature matter as much as the colour you pick. We won't rush a coat onto siding on a cold, damp morning.
The painting season here is short, and spring and summer booking windows fill quickly. If you want the work finished before the leaves come down, plan ahead and request your exterior estimate early. We paint homes throughout the region, including Kanata, Nepean, Alta Vista and Orleans. The full list is on our service areas page.
A cold snap or a wet stretch can push back a painting day. We only apply exterior products within the temperature window they require, because paint that goes on too cold or onto damp siding won't bond properly. If the forecast turns, we'll keep you posted.

View ProjectExterior paint has to go on within the temperature window the product requires, which in Ottawa means the warmer part of the year. That's also when most homeowners want their painting done, so the earlier you get in touch, the better your choice of dates.
We choose professional-grade exterior products that resist peeling, cracking and chalking, even through winters that reach -30°C. How well paint lasts also depends on prep and on applying it in the right conditions, and we don't cut corners on either one.
Sometimes. Painting brick is a long-term decision, and some brick is better left alone. We check its condition first and give you a straight answer. If paint is a good fit, we'll prep the surface properly and use a product suited to masonry.
No. A colour consultation comes with every exterior job. We'll look at the fixed parts of your house, like the roof and any stone or brick, and help you choose body, trim and accent colours that work together.
Send us a few photos of your house and we'll call to book a free exterior estimate before the season fills up.
