Interior Painting
Interior repaints are the core of our business. We paint walls, ceilings, trim and doors in Ottawa homes of every size, with careful prep and paint chosen to hold up to daily life.
Interior Painting in Ottawa
Fresh paint changes how a room feels more than almost any other update, and it does it without tearing anything out. Interior work is what Maple City Painters does most. Repaints come in every size, from one bedroom in a bungalow to every room of a two-storey home, and each job follows the same routine: protect the space, fix what needs fixing, then paint with clean, straight lines where walls meet ceilings and trim.
Colour is where a lot of homeowners get stuck. We'll help you narrow it down by looking at the room itself, including how much daylight it gets, what the lighting is like after dark and the style of your furniture and floors. For walls we use premium low-VOC paint, which matters when the windows stay shut for much of an Ottawa winter. If the kitchen cabinets need attention too, have a look at our cabinet painting service.
Maple City projectWhat we cover
Walls, ceilings, trim, doors and baseboards in every room of the house. We repair cracks and holes first, then finish with premium low-VOC paint that suits family living.
The room guests see first and the one you use every evening. We paint walls and ceilings, cut clean lines around built-ins and window casings, and help you pick a colour that works in daylight and lamplight alike.
Bedrooms are usually full of furniture and close to the rest of the family's routine. We protect what stays in the room, paint walls, ceilings and closet doors, and keep the work area tidy from start to finish.
Kitchen walls deal with steam, cooking splatter and constant hands. We clean and prep before painting and recommend a finish you can wipe down. Dining rooms can carry a richer colour, and we'll help you choose one.
Narrow halls and tall stairwells collect scuffs from bags, boots and pets. We set up safe access for the high walls above the stairs and cut in carefully around handrails and railings, where drips are easy to miss.
A clean, even ceiling makes a room look finished, and a stained or yellowed one drags the whole space down. We repaint ceilings with even coverage and sharp lines where they meet the walls.
Trim takes the most wear and shows the most detail. We fill dents, caulk open joints and paint baseboards, casings and doors with a durable finish that stands up to vacuums, shoes and everyday bumps.
Paint won't hide a crack or a nail hole. Before any colour goes on, we fill holes, repair cracks and touch up minor drywall damage, then sand the patches smooth so the finished wall reads as one clean surface.
Our process
Preparation, painting and finishing, in the order that makes the result last.
After you send the request form, we call from 613-890-3000 to book a Project Discovery Call. We look at the rooms, talk through colours and products, and put everything in a written proposal with clear payment stages.
Floors and furniture get covered, switch plates come off, and edges are masked where needed. Then we fill holes, fix cracks and sand the patched areas so the new paint goes onto a sound surface.
Ceilings usually go first, then walls, then trim and doors. We cut in by hand along the edges and roll the open areas for an even finish, checking each wall in good light before moving on.
We pull the masking, put the covers back on, clean up and walk the rooms with you. Point out anything you'd like touched up while we're still there. Most homes are finished in 1 to 5 days.
Ottawa considerations
Ottawa's housing covers a lot of ground. Older homes in The Glebe and Westboro often have plaster walls and detailed trim that call for patient prep. Newer houses in Barrhaven, Findlay Creek and Stittsville tend to have long stretches of open drywall, where a sloppy roller line shows up the moment afternoon sun hits it. We adjust our approach to the house in front of us instead of running every job the same way.
Winter is a good time for inside work. The exterior season is over, and a freshly painted room makes the cold months easier to live with. Dry furnace air can open small gaps where trim meets the wall, so we caulk those joints during prep. With the house closed up, low-VOC paint keeps the smell down. Ready to plan your rooms? Before your start date, please take down pictures, clear shelves and put away personal items and fragile décor in the rooms we're painting. It lets us get straight to prep and keeps your things out of harm's way. We'll take care of covering floors and larger furniture.

View ProjectMost residential projects take 1 to 5 days. A couple of bedrooms sits at the short end, while a full two-storey repaint with lots of trim and repairs sits at the long end. Your written proposal will reflect the real scope once we've seen the rooms.
For interior walls we use premium low-VOC paint, chosen for coverage, durability and a finish that holds up. We don't push one product for every room. A busy hallway and a guest bedroom have different needs, and we'll explain the options before you decide.
Yes. Filling nail holes, repairing cracks and touching up minor drywall damage are part of our normal prep. If you're worried about a larger problem area, point it out during the estimate so we can look at it and tell you what's involved.
We stand behind our work and offer a warranty on quality and workmanship. Ask about the details with your proposal and we'll walk you through them. If you'd like to see finished rooms first, browse our projects.
